Geometric Optics is the first optics course in the Optometry curriculum. It covers basic principles of light, vergence, refraction, thin lenses, prisms, accomodation, astigmatism, and mirrors. Students are expected to gain a working knowledge of concepts, language, terminology, definitions, equations, and principles of geometric optics, confidence in geometric optics problem solving, and a comprehensive understanding of how geometric optics relates to the profession of optometry.
