Re: Teller Over/Short Policy and Procedures
POLICY
The College of Optometry has a Teller Over/Short Policy to minimize losses of monetary assets. Optometry employs Cashiers in the Clinic Business Office and it is the responsibility of the Supervisor and the Cashiers to secure and account for the University’s monetary assets. The Cashiers are required to balance each day’s financial activity at the end of each day using the appropriate form (see attached).
PROCEDURES
Twenty minutes prior to end of the Cashier’s work day, each teller must account for assets using the Checkout form. Discrepancies, overages and shortages, in reconciling the day’s activity shall be handled in the following manner.
From $5.01 to $25.00 Verbal Warning- first time.
Written Warning- after first time.
Probation for 90 days- after first two warnings.
Termination if out of balance condition occurs during probation.
$25.00 + Probation for 90 days - first time.
Termination if out of balance condition occurs
during probation.
